I shook my head in sheer exasperation this morning when I read this article:
http://pagingdrgupta.blogs.cnn.com/2010/06/28/x-rays-of-marilyn-monroe-sold-for-45000/?hpt=Sbin
While I should have expected something like this, it still just disgusts me. I know some people pride themselves on collecting the unusual souvenirs from celebrities of past and present, but…… REALLY? The woman’s x-ray????
Julien’s Auctions sold other strange items from some of Marilyn Monroe’s last years. Again… where are the proceeds going for all of these pieces from her estate? And WHY do they feel the need to pick apart her past like vultures????
Greed is really an ugly thing, ladies and gentlemen.
End of rant.

My dad has been writing a book precisely on point with this blog, I have emailed him the web address so maybe he could pick up a couple pointers. Fantastic Job.

the curves are visible from the scan, may be the buyer saw the value in them 😛

She’s a marvel, a historic icon, loved, adored and hated and heckled. Everything she touched is gold right now. And don’t act like you wouldn’t frame an X-Ray of Marilyn and hang it in the living room ;P

Hahaha! I don’t think I would go for something like an x-ray, but if I ever had the means to buy one of her Pucci dresses that she wore and loved so much, it would definitely be in a locked case in my living room!
Honestly, though, I am wishing they would have some sort of Marilyn museum with her stuff in it for everyone to enjoy, rather than selling it off and scattering it to the winds. 🙂
